Falana Urges Ekiti Police to Arrest Suspected Attackers of Sowore

Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, has called on the Ekiti State Police Command to arrest and prosecute those allegedly involved in the attack on Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC).

Falana made the call in a statement issued on Sunday, describing the suspected attackers as individuals whose identities were already known.

He urged the police to ensure their immediate arrest and arraignment before a Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti.

“Since the armed thugs who attacked Mr Omoyele Sowore are well known, the Ekiti State Police Command should arrest and arraign them in the Magistrate Court at Ado-Ekiti without any further delay,” he said.

The senior lawyer also called on the Ekiti State Ministry of Justice to take over the prosecution of a murder case involving 45-year-old Sunday Ogunsakin.

He urged the ministry to ensure that the two suspects arrested in connection with the incident, Rotimi Olabiowonu, a former chairman of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), and Opeyemi Adedoyin, were charged with murder before the High Court.

According to the police, Ogunsakin died after he was allegedly pushed out of a moving vehicle by five suspects who reportedly abducted him from his residence in Ekiti State.
