Tinubu: New Army formations to boost security response in four states
President Bola Tinubu says the Nigerian Army has operationalised new formations in four states to improve its response to security threats.
Tinubu disclosed this in a statement on his official X handle on Sunday, listing the affected states as Zamfara, Kebbi, Oyo and Osun.
He said the development would bring troops closer to vulnerable communities and strengthen their capacity to respond swiftly to security threats.
“This week, the Nigerian Army operationalised new formations in Zamfara, Kebbi, Oyo and Osun.
“Our troops are now closer to vulnerable communities in these areas, strengthening our ability to respond swiftly and decisively when our people are threatened,” he said.
The president also said the Federal Government was accelerating the construction of new military barracks and depots in Abuja, Ekiti, Ebonyi and Kogi states.
He said the facility in Osun had already been completed.
Tinubu stressed the need to match the increasing responsibilities of military personnel with improved welfare and support for their families.
“As we demand more from our men and women in uniform, we must do more to support them and their families.
“Every deployment is a sacrifice made by a family too,” he said.
The president also noted the positive feedback from military personnel on the recent increase in their pay, saying the adjustment was making a difference to them and their families.
Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to providing the Armed Forces with the resources and support required to protect the country.
He said the government would continue to support military personnel and their families as they discharge their constitutional responsibilities.
“While our Armed Forces stand watch over Nigeria, my duty as Commander-in-Chief is to ensure they have the resources and support to do their job and that Nigeria stands firmly behind the families waiting for them at home,” he said.
