Arsenal Beat Everton to Draw Level with Man City
Arsenal moved level on points with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table after defeating Everton 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.
The victory extended the Gunners’ unbeaten run across all competitions to five matches.
Arsenal broke the deadlock in the seventh minute when Ezri Konsa converted a close-range pass from Viktor Gyökeres to put the hosts ahead.
The goal marked Konsa’s first for Arsenal since joining the club from Aston Villa during the summer transfer window.
Both sides created opportunities to score again, but neither could find the net until the 68th minute.
Gabriel then doubled Arsenal’s lead with a header from a cross delivered by Ben White, sealing all three points for the hosts.
The result took Arsenal to 21 points, level with Manchester City, although the Gunners remained second on goal difference.
City had earlier suffered a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa, their first Premier League loss of the season after eight matches.
The defeat gave Arsenal an opportunity to close the gap on the reigning title contenders and strengthen their position in the title race.
In another fixture, Fulham defeated Coventry City away from home at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Oscar Bobb scored the decisive goal in the 80th minute to secure victory for Fulham.
