The United Kingdom has opened applications for the 2026/2027 Commonwealth Fellowships, offering opportunities to Nigerians and eligible citizens from other Commonwealth countries.
The programme, administered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC), is designed for mid-career professionals and university academics who hold PhDs.
According to the CSC, applications are currently open for both Professional Fellowships for mid-career professionals and Academic Fellowships for PhD-holding university staff.
Interested applicants from Nigeria and other eligible Commonwealth countries have until August 25, 2026, to submit their applications.
The CSC said about 40 fellowship opportunities are available across various fields. Of these, approximately 10 are reserved for citizens of Commonwealth countries that are not eligible for Overseas Development Assistance (ODA), while about 30 are available to applicants from ODA-eligible Commonwealth countries.
Established in 1960, the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission has supported more than 31,000 people to study and develop professionally in the UK, helping recipients gain expertise, build networks and contribute to addressing global development challenges.
