Osun 2026: Akpabio, Uzodinma, others storm Osogbo for APC mega rally

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and several governors and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have arrived in Osogbo for the party’s mega rally ahead of Saturday’s Osun governorship election.
Among those who arrived for the rally are the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Imo Governor, Hope Uzodinma; Edo Governor, Monday Okpebholo; Kogi Governor, Ahmed Usman; and Ondo Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Also present is James Faleke, member of the House of Representatives representing Ikeja Federal Constituency.
The rally, scheduled for Thursday, marks the APC’s final major mobilisation activity for its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, before the close of the official campaign period.
The event is expected to draw APC leaders, supporters and campaign coordinators from across the 30 local government areas of the state as the party seeks to consolidate its support base ahead of the election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed Aug. 13 as the deadline for campaigns after adjusting the election date from Aug. 8 to Aug. 15.
The visiting governors and other party leaders are also expected to engage APC members and supporters in Osun, including indigenes of their respective states resident in the state, as part of efforts to mobilise additional support for Oyebamiji.
The mobilisation is intended to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and translate its campaign activities into votes for the former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).
Oyebamiji, who emerged as the APC candidate after the party’s governorship primary in Osogbo, has been campaigning on a platform of development and has urged voters to support his bid.
The mega rally is expected to be the APC’s major show of strength before the campaign window closes at midnight on Thursday.
With the election days away, the party is seeking to reach undecided voters and reinforce its mobilisation machinery ahead of Saturday’s poll.
