INEC displays particulars of Tinubu, Atiku, Obi, other 2027 candidates

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the personal particulars of candidates contesting the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections across the country.

The publication, carried out on Saturday at INEC offices in all states of the federation, is in line with the commission’s revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections.

Among the documents displayed are the particulars of presidential candidates and their running mates nominated by various political parties.

According to the commission, President Bola Tinubu will contest the election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with Vice President Kashim Shettima retained as his running mate.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) listed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate, with former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, as his running mate.

The National Democratic Coalition (NDC) also presented Peter Obi as its presidential candidate, alongside former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as his vice-presidential candidate.

Other presidential tickets displayed by the commission include the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which nominated Sandy Onor as its presidential candidate and Umaru Babangida as his running mate.

The African Action Congress (AAC) fielded Omoyele Sowore and Garba Magashi as its presidential and vice-presidential candidates respectively, while the Young Progressives Party (YPP) nominated Zugwai Chukwu and Egbeola Martins.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) presented Adewole Adebayo and Bujgaje Mohammed, while the African Democratic Party (ADP) nominated Abbas-Bin Aliyu and Ike Chinazam for the offices of president and vice president respectively.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) listed Fredrick Okwori as its presidential candidate with Anthony Chukwuemeka as his running mate, while the Labour Party (LP) nominated Chibuzo Okereke and Bintu Konto.

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) also featured Mohammed Dikwa as its presidential candidate and Isah Abubakar as his running mate. The Action Alliance (AA) was among the parties whose candidates’ particulars were displayed.

INEC also displayed the personal particulars of candidates seeking election into the Senate and the House of Representatives.

The commission said the publication was to enable members of the public and political stakeholders to scrutinise the credentials of candidates and raise any legitimate objections in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act.
