President's National Broadcast: In his nationwide address themed "From Reform to Prosperity,"President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared that the harshest, "emergency treatment" phase of his economic reforms is officially over. He noted that the country has moved into an "age of prosperity" aimed at cutting the cost of living, creating jobs, and improving local production.
Economic Outlook: The President defended the administration's painful structural choices—including the unification of the naira exchange rate and the removal of petrol subsidies—claiming the economy grew over 4% while foreign reserves have been successfully rebuilt.
Low-Key Celebrations: The Federal Government opted for a reflection-focused, low-key anniversary programme rather than elaborate festivities, acknowledging the ongoing financial strains and cost-of-living pressures faced by ordinary citizens.
Calls for Unity & Resilience: Leaders nationwide, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and various state governors, issued goodwill messages urging citizens to remain resilient, maintain faith in the country's democratic institutions, and pull together for national unity.
